Hello All!
First, a BIG thank you to everyone who turned up at the meet today. Even though I know that playing in Slidell in the rain is everyone's favorite thing, you all took a frustrating situation with the weather and handled it very well.
As many of you who didn't even get a chance to swim can attest, the meet did not get far enough for us to call it off, meaning that it has been rescheduled for this Thursday! So far, the weather looks...maybe
just damp, not apocalyptic. Our warm-up will be at 4:30, meaning you need to be there BY 4:15p. Everyone did a great job of being on time today when it didn't really count, so show it off again.
Please note that IF you can be there, please let me know. You will be entered in the same events you were already in for the meet. If you CAN'T be there, I just need to know as well so that I can scratch you. Wednesday practice is the deadline to let me know. (e-mail me at lukemorin@gmail.com if you won't be at practice!)
Finally, some shout outs for some excellent swims today....
Our motto this year is Spirit, Sportsmanship, Dedication, Excellence. So, I have my shoutouts for the following today.
Spirit
...Nathan and Noah Balbon for some serious skin art. Whoever drew the bubbles the competition has been told to eat up has some serious street cred!
Sportsmanship
...Dominic Collara for being a gentleman. It takes a true sport to go back after a race and congratulate your competitors!
Dedication
...Johnathon Baudoin and Eddie Howard for giving a second go. After getting a little too close for comfort to the bottom of the pool on their first starts in a VERY shallow pool, both were ready to go and even offered to go off the blocks again in the next race if needed.
Excellence
...Marisa Buras, Abby Liccardi and Maigan Morales for smokin' hot speed. With some serious competition and some awesome speed, all three girls cut HUGE amounts of time from their swims in Wednesday's meet.
Congrats to those swimmers! I'll see you all at the pool tomorrow!
